Thanks to Pete Smith for running with the website idea. Sure hope it catches on? Now every time I sign in I will be confronted with the site of mount 51. A five inch gun mount that I had the pleasure of maintaining as a duty, work, general quarter and some times sleeping quarters. This being my assignment after achieving the exalted rank of GM3. Believe it or not GM1 Lampman kept me on even after I blew a tomkin over the side when I wanted to make sure the bore evacuator worked. However that was before I elevated the gun barrel catching the bow life lines and stantions rendering them useless. Have a nice day everyone. God bless. Rollins GM3, 1956-57.

Hi Shipmates,
This new website and home of the USS Knapp on the information highway was created by Lee Gordon as a memorial to Al Dzobel TM3. I think he did a great job and we welcome your suggestions and comments.
Pete

Welcome to the USS Knapp website. Hope you guys enjoy it. It was a pleasure to build the website. Just want to take the time to thank all the men who served aboard the Knapp. Sure glad I'm not speaking German or Korean! Thanks again for defending our freedom.
